"Diversity
among our graduate students, faculty, staff and alumni
is a major strength of the Rutgers experience."
|
Rutgers
University has been a pioneer in its commitment to building
and nurturing a diverse community. Diversity among our graduate
students, faculty, staff and alumni is a major strength of
the Rutgers experience.
|
|
Our graduate
programs on the New Brunswick, Newark and Camden campuses
are renowned not only for their quality, but also for their
strong multicultural and international student focus. Among
our outstanding programs is the Diversity Advancement Program,
which has assisted over 75 students in attaining their Ph.D.
degrees since it was established in the mid-1980s.
If you
are thinking seriously about Rutgers and especially if you
enroll here, I urge you to seek a faculty or staff mentor
or a thesis advisor to support you in your academic work.
In addition, be sure to take advantage of the many academic,
administrative and cultural resources available to you. Students
of color at Rutgers may feel pressures and responsibilities
and be asked to serve as role models for future students.
Embrace this challenge and give back at least of part of what
has been given to you.
